Rice Pilaf or Pilau Rice, also commonly called rice pulao is a dish in which rice, traditionally basmati rice, is cooked in a seasoned broth typically containing meat, though vegetarian versions are popular as well. Depending on the local cuisine and recipe, rice pilaf or pilau rice may also contain a variety of meat and vegetables.
Ingredients
- Ghee or 3 Tblsp Vegetable oil
- 1 Onion
- 4 Black Cardomons
- 1 inch Cinnamon
- 6 Cloves
- 4 Bay Leaves
- 1 Tblsp Turmeric
- 2 Cups Basmati Rice
- Water
Instructions
- Melt 2 oz ghee and fry onion till golden.
- Add cloves, cinnamon, cardomons, bay leaves and turmeric.
- Fry for 2 mins.
- Add rice and fry for 2 mins.
- Add 4 cups of water and bring to the boil.
- Simmer until rice is cooked. Approximately 12 mins.
